Flavors of brown sugar, blackberry, and apple juice.
Inza Reserva is part of the Las Mingas project: Olympia Coffee’s partnership with independent farmers in the town of Inza in Cauca, and Caravela Coffee Exporters. Over 100 farmers their small lots for approval to our Las Mingas Project in Inza. Las Mingas is an indigenous Colombian word that means ‘a group effort toward success.’ Without the producers, the exporter, the importer and ourselves pulling equal weight, we wouldn’t see such extraordinary coffees. The producers who make up Inza Reserva are paid premiums for high quality coffee. Extreme altitude and simple yet clean processing are keys to success in this coffee growing paradise. The coffee cherry are harvested and then manually depulped with hand cranked depulpers. The beans are then fermented in concrete or tiled tanks, washed by hand and dried in solar dryers.
Flavors of strawberry, cocoa, and blackberry
Bedhatu Jibicho is a single farmer from the village of Banko Gotiti, Gedeb, Ethiopia. They first met her in 2014 when she and her neighbors joined together to form the Banko Gotiti Cooperative. Over the last four years they have been working with the Banko Cooperative extensively and getting to know Bedhatu Jibicho’s coffees really well, as she is the largest single producer within the cooperative. As Olympia Coffee has been pushing forward to source coffees that truly have the most impact in improving farmers' lives, their goal moved toward sourcing from individual producers rather than large cooperatives. Working with our sourcing partners in Ethiopia, Royal Coffee, they incentivized certain producers to leave their cooperatives and obtain their own Export license. In doing so, these farmers are able to retain 30% more of their margin, which previously went to the cooperative. We have the rare opportunity to drink a single producer's coffee, which in Ethiopia is almost unheard of, and have the impact of improving the lives of farmers and their families.
Luis Hernandez is a coffee farmer in the Chalatenago region of El Salvador.
They met Hernandez a couple years back after purchasing coffee from his neighbor, Melvin Flores. His farm sits in the canyon called Aquacatal, named after the towering Avocado trees that shade the farms. This little micro region outside of the town of La Palma is super special because of its position at 1,800 meters above sea level. It's at just the right altitude for growing Bourbon, Pacas and Pacamara, some of our favorite varietals in El Salvador. Hernandez had heard about Olympia Coffee’s Fair For All standards and was interested in partnering with them. Olympia provided some feedback to help improve his coffee's quality, and established goals in order to purchase his coffee in the future.
After one year of improvements, Luis Hernandez met his goals on picking and processing, and Olympia has now have purchased 100% of his coffee for the season, including Bourbon and Pacas varietals. This is his Bourbon varietal lot. For Hernandez, selling these lots to Olympia Coffee earns him 50% more than when he sold through traditional means. His coffee and story is an excellent example of the work they seek to do with their Fair For All sourcing program.
Flavors of milk chocolate, caramel, and marshmallow
Decaf is for coffee lovers. Olympia Coffee Roasters work tirelessly to create the best Decaf program in the world.
For this version of Asterisk they teamed up with their producers from Colombia's San Sebastian Project and partnered with Colombian Decaf Plant, La Serenia, where they used raw sugar converted to Ethyl Acetate to extract the caffeine from the coffee. San Sebastian coffees are part of the most complex coffee project Olympia Coffee Roasters have undertaken, a project intended to develop lasting, quality-focused relationships between farmer and roaster. In order to ensure that they are working in tandem with their growers, the project incorporates a staff cupper in Colombia who works with both farmer and roaster. Hundreds of coffee samples, fresh from harvest, are sent to Olympia Coffee to be cupped every week throughout the two growing seasons in La Plata and multiple farm visits are made each year from the staff of Olympia Coffee. This San Sebastian selection was made specifically for Decaf Asterisk.
Flavors of peach, candied citrus, and rose
This Sweetheart is a collection of coffees from the famed Yirgacheffe area of Ethiopia. We work in the surrounding towns, from Wenago all the way down to Banko Gotiti and in this collection we have included only washed coffees from these areas. These coffees are world renown for their floral quality and elegance. Ethiopia, being the birthplace of coffee, is also known for an exclusive heirloom collection of varietals. These varietals bring forward flavors of stone fruit and candied citrus. Ethiopia Yirgacheffee Reserve is made up of two producer we have been working with for a few years, including coffees from the Banko Dadhato Cooperative and single producer Desta Gola.

Gitwe Micro Lot 29 represents a single day of harvest -- the 29th day, in fact. After tasting dozens of day lots from Gitwe Hill, Olympia Coffee Roasters selected just a handful of this year’s very best. Gitwe Hill coffees are grown by a diverse collection of farmers in Burundi -- one of Africa’s tiniest nations, and one of the world’s poorest. This coffee is processed at the Heza washing station, one of two stations in Burundi run by the Long Miles Coffee Project. Long Miles Coffee was founded by Ben Carlson (a great friend of Olympia Coffee) with the dream of improving the lives of coffee farmers in this special country. Olympia Coffee Roasters have worked with the team at Long Miles from the very beginning and they're so proud to see the impact their purchases have had there over the years. It’s been truly life changing for these farmers.
Sweet chocolate, and ripe berry flavors, all in a dense heavy body
Olympia Coffee Roasters devote constant attention to Big Truck and think it might be the best organic espresso blend you can find. Coffee is a seasonal fresh produce and different producing countries have varied seasons and harvest periods. We strive to buy smaller lots in their prime to keep the blend as fresh as possible. The ingredients of the blend change based upon seasonality, yet the flavor profile for Big Truck remains the same.
Flavors of pralines, pears, and tea
