Artist Statement:

In my art, I immerse myself in the ever-flowing currents of everyday emotions, allowing them to shape my creative journey. Each stroke, each detail, serves as a vessel for expressing the raw essence of my inner world. Nature, the subconscious, the spiritual path, and the dream world intertwine as I explore these themes through storytelling and symbolism.

Drawing inspiration from fairy tales, mythology, and personal experiences, I translate life's complexities into visual narratives. I eschew abstract art in favor of delving into the intricacies of figures, slowly bringing them to life on canvas.

Utilizing acrylic as my preferred medium, I've refined my technique over the years to achieve smooth, expert brushstrokes that echo the richness of oil paintings. As viewers engage with my art, I delight in witnessing their contemplative gazes, aiming to evoke a spectrum of emotions and moments of reflection.

For me, art serves as a lens through which to filter reality, inviting viewers to explore different perspectives and delve into the depths of human experience. Through storytelling and emotive imagery, I peel back the layers of existence, revealing the interconnected beauty and profound depth within.

Chicago artist and painter Giulia Salza was born and raised in Italy, where she was immersed in its rich culture, and taught Italian literature after earning a Master’s in Cultural Anthropology.
Obtaining an additional three year children Illustration diploma in 2017, marked the start of her art career. Salza ventured into live painting alongside Eleonora Frida Mino’s theatrical company, translating narratives into vibrant visuals on stage, focusing on empowering women against the mafia.

Salza’s artistic endeavors expanded to diverse projects like "A todo color," exploring Argentine Tango, and the "Vetrina moving bodies festival," celebrating Butoh dance. Currently residing in Chicago, Salza switched to digital and video art and collaborates with the same theatrical company, crafting scenery and illustrations, bridging visual art and storytelling through picture books inspired by their performances. Giulia Salza’s upcoming project is centered around Dante Alighieri's Divine Comedy, a perennial source of inspiration for her artistic endeavors.
